Dear Friends of ECI, I am writing this note to you the first week of May 2021, a historic time for Afghanistan, the start of the withdrawal of all foreign forces from the country after 20 years. There will be challenges for the Afghan nation as it navigates this transition, and there is a lot of uncertainty and speculation about what might happen in the country as foreign troops withdraw. But my colleagues and I at Enabled Children Initiative believe it’s most important during this time to focus on what will happen, what can happen, what is happening. And that’s what I want to tell you about in this letter.
